This issue of Structures and Buildings has a bias towards reinforced concrete construction in that four papers are about various aspects of such construction. The other papers are about the behaviour of stainless steel in fire and a timely paper on the ‘Certification of building structural design in Scotland’. The reason for this being so timely is that the introduction into England and Wales is currently being discussed and there is interest in possible implementation in other parts of the world.
