Although grillage analysis is a very popular method for obtaining the response of flat slabs and bridge decks, there are very few guidelines on how to apply the method to decks with inclined webs. This paper presents new and more accurate criteria for obtaining the torsion constant of longitudinal and transverse grillage beams and for splitting a deck into longitudinal beams. These criteria are applied in a numerical study of three different decks with inclined webs. The static response of the numerical models under three load cases is compared with the response of three-dimensional finite-element numerical models.
