The effectiveness of some of the most commonly used models for predicting the bond strength of steel and glass-fibre-reinforced polymer reinforcing bars in normal-strength concrete (NSC) and high-strength concrete (HSC) was examined. To this end, a comprehensive database of published results on pullout specimens was collected. A non-linear least-squares fitting method was used to formulate simple and accurate models with a unified structure for both steel- and fibreglass-reinforced specimens. To investigate the efficiency of the proposed model for NSC, the results of specimens in the literature, which were not included in the model construction, were used. However, due to the scarcity of HSC bond specimens compared with NSC specimens, an experimental programme was conducted for model verification. The final results revealed that the simple equations developed in this study were capable of accurately predicting the bond strength of steel and polymer rebars in both NSC and HSC.
