Welcome to the August issue of Transport in 2010.
This issue of Transport covers a range of subjects relating to highways. There is a paper on locating of variable message signs in parking guidance systems (Chen and Shi, 2010) and a new regime for pavement foundation stiffness compliance testing is presented (Frost et al., 2010). The importance of pavement rehabilitation design in Bangladesh is described (Khan et al., 2010) and the influence of vehicular interaction on passenger car unit values roundabout is investigated (Brooks, 2010). The final paper presents a road safety management system for Olivera do Bairro in Portugal (Ferreira et al., 2010).
In addition to these papers, this issue includes reviews of several books: Water in Road Structures: Movement, Drainage and Effects; Transport Policy and Planning in Great Britain; and Cold Regions Pavement Engineering. This issue also includes an obituary for John Leigh who sadly passed away in 2009.
The editorial advisory panel is aware that our readership encompasses many different strands within the transportation field: transport planning and infrastructure; industry and academia; roads and railways; air and water. Our main challenge is to try to ensure that, during the course of a year's issues, our journal will publish papers drawn from across all these strands, so that you will all find something of interest and will spread the word among your colleagues.
