In his final book Sir Peter Hall, with the author's help, chose some 20 European cities to explain how the UK (and USA) could transform their situation by applying the ‘art of urbanism’. German cities best show how to boost the local economy, French cities transport, Dutch cities housing and Scandinavian cities the environment. However, all share a common approach in which local authorities lead the way, and use good urban design to reshape their urban areas, and create better lives for their residents.
