Briefing: Urban design evidence

This article presents three ways in which evidence is used in urban design and related fields. Evidence informs design decisions (evidence-based design), is the product of design processes (prototyping) and can be seen as a critical goal of designed places (witnessing). The field of urban design needs to value and continue to refine all three practices.
