The audience for this journal is made up of researchers and practitioners concerned with water management. Interests vary from applied engineering to hydroinformatics and include management and social sciences. In this issue alone the diversity of topics takes us from scour at bridge piers1 to modelling of lamella plates by way of public-private partnerships in water provision and sanitation.2 Its multi-disciplinary style keeps the journal topical, varied and an interesting read. It is in my view the journal's great strength.
