Design parameters of vortex settling basin

Experimental results concerning the effects of width ratio and diameter ratio on the sediment removal efficiency of a vortex settling basin are reported. Available relations for sediment removal efficiency of a vortex settling basin are tested and an equation is developed and presented using data collected in the present investigation and laboratory and field data collected from the literature. The existing relations for sediment removal efficiency were found not to produce satisfactory results for a wide range of hydraulic and geometrical variables.
