This is not only a book that describes business model generation it also tells the reader how in a very practical way they can be constructed.

The authors outline nine “ building blocks” which in themselves describe how an organisation produces a business model from its creation to its final product. These nine blocks include:

  • Key input blocks (3) – about partners, activities and resources.

  • Customer focused blocks (3) – key segments, channels and relationships.

  • Costs and revenues (2).

  • Value proposition block (1).

This makes up a “canvas” which neatly describes how the business model is created, produced and retains its value. The steps are set out clearly and can be adapted to almost any business model. Plenty of examples are given. It is very much an individual approach for defining, setting out and evaluating a “business model canvas”.

The authors also recognise their collaboration with co‐creators and co‐designers in producing this book which results in an attractively formatted and practical text.
