Mathematical modelling in sport

This conference will take place from 25 to 26 June 2007 at the Lowry Centre,Salford Quays, Manchester (www.thelowry.com).

Topics to include: optimal tournament design and scheduling; analysis of rules and adjudication; performance measures and models; competitive strategy;match outcome models; decision support systems; analysis of sporting technologies; mathematics education and sport, econometrics in sport.

The term sport is interpreted liberally here and includes: games and pastimes; gambling and online; gaining; lotteries; and general fitness and health-related activities.

Call for papers

Those wishing to contribute papers will be accepted on the basis of an abstract of 300-500 words, which should be submitted to mailot:Lucy.Nye@ima.org.uk or online at www.ima.org.uk/ conferences by 15 December 2006. Authors will be notified of the acceptance of their papers by 8 January 2007. Further details regarding full papers will be issued at this time.
