IIGSS plan – an international workshop

The International Institute for General Systems Inc. is planning to hold an international workshop at Wuhan, China in June 2007. The dates are not finalised but it is expected to take place during the second half of the month. This will be the fifth workshop. The President and Director of the IIGSS is Dr Jeffrey Yi-LIn Forrest who is an active member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Kybernetes. The institute says:

The IIGSS is established to promote research and education in systemic thinking and encourage the development of more mature theories of and truly successful applications of systems research in all branches of knowledge. The IIGSS is incorporated in Pennsylvania as a section 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization under the laws of the US Internal Revenue Service. Since, its inception, at the institute level, four international workshops had taken place. The Inaugural Workshop (1995) was held at Slippery Rock, PA, the second (1997)at San Marcos, Texas, the third (1998) in Qmghuandao, China, and the fourth(2002) in Pittsburgh, PA, as a joint conference with the World Organisation of Systems and Cybernetics (WOSC).

Details of the programme and further information about the workshop will be published in future issues of Kybernetes, Volume 36, 2007. An international organising committee has been formed to oversee the event.
