The 11th World Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics – WMSCI 2007 – 8-11 July 2007
This multi-conference was held in Orlando, Florida USA in July 2007. It was jointly organised with the 13th International Conference on Information Systems Analysis and Synthesis; ISAS 2007.
Amongst its Academic/Scientific co-sponsors was the WOSC and the officials were invited to participate in the conference programme. Members of the KybernetesEditorial Board – Dr Allena Leonard and Dr Ranulph Glanville were invited plenary, keynote speakers, and Professor Brian Rudall as an Honorary President
Function and purpose of the multi-conference
WMSCI 2007 was clearly organised as:
... an international forum for scientists and engineers, researchers and consultants, theoreticians and practitioners in the fields of Systemics,Cybernetics and Informatics. The forum focuses into specific disciplinary research, and also in multi, inter, and trans-disciplmary studies and projects. One of its aims is to relate disciplines, fostering analogical thinking and,hence, producing input to the logical thinking.

The purpose of WMSCI 2007 is to promote discussions and interactions between researchers and practitioners focused on disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary issues, ideas, concepts, theories, methodologies and applications. We are particularly interested in fostering the exchange of concepts, prototypes, research ideas, and other results which could contribute to the academic arena and also benefit business, and the industrial community.
To do this it was organised around the major themes:
information systems, technologies and applications;
communication and network systems, technologies and applications;
control systems, technologies and applications;
computer science and engineering;
optical systems, technologies and applications;
image, acoustic, speech, and signal processing;
applications of informatics and cybernetics in science and engineering;
applications of informatics and cybernetics in biology and medicine;
Systemics; and
concepts, principles, methodologies and applications of cybernetics.

International Conference on Knowledge Generation, Communication and Management: KGCM 2007.
Organisation
A conference of this size and importance needed a matching organisation. It had a Programme Committee of 290 members from 36 countries with the symposia Programme Committee of 120 members from 34 countries. To support such a wide-ranging-programme it was necessary to recruit 1,700 additional reviewers from 98 countries to support the review process
Proceedings
Of the very large number of papers presented at the multi-conferences some 10-20 per cent are being selected and published after possible revisions and/or extensions to make them suitable for journal publication. Details will be made available in the near future.
Electronic post-conference sessions
The organisers have proposed that:
Electronic post-conference sessions will be held for one month after the conference is over, so each author is able to follow up and continue interacting with the other authors who presented papers at their session. They will also be able to evaluate the papers presented at their sessions.
