40th anniversary issues: selected research and development studies

To mark the 40th anniversary of this journal, we are publishing special issues that are concerned with research and development in important areas of our chosen fields of cybernetics, systems and management science. The two special issues that have already been published contained contributions selected from the proceedings of the Cybernetic Society (issues 1/2) and on the theme of Organisational Cybernetics (3/4). This issue, in its first section, presents studies in cybernetics and management science which are typical of the hundreds of papers received annually for publication in Kybernetes.

In the second section, our invited guest editors have compiled a selection of contributions on novel ideas of modelling and the simulations on various systems in a wide-ranging set of studies.

Whilst the first section was compiled by our editorial team the second was prepared by our Guest Editors, Yi Lin, Hejing Xiong and Mianyan Chen to whom we extend our grateful thanks.

Finally, we include our regular journal sections which provide an essential link to the activities of the community of researchers and developers who contribute so much to our chosen fields of endeavor.
