Competitor identification is the core link in product competition analysis. Accurately identifying potential competitors can not only help enterprises seize the first opportunity in the market but also provide a scientific basis for formulating more effective strategic planning. With the continuous development of social platforms, users not only post product-related perspective data on the platform but also show potential needs and preferences through behavioral data such as likes, shares and clicks. This paper proposes a competitor identification framework based on multidimensional UGC. The framework constructs a user perspective attribute network and a user behavior network from the dimensions of user perspective and user behavior and introduces a competitiveness assessment model to provide enterprises with more effective tools for market strategy formulation and competitive analysis.
In this paper, we first construct a user attribute perspective network and a user behavior network from both user perspectives and user behaviors and model user-generated content from multiple dimensions. Aiming at the complexity of product competition, this paper proposes a competitiveness assessment method based on dual competition, which takes into account the competition formed based on product similarity and also covers the competition impact based on user similarity. This method can help enterprises accurately identify obvious and potential competitors, quantify the competitive relationship and provide strong support for the formulation of market strategies and competitive analysis. Finally, this paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the method through a case study.
The results of the study show that, firstly, the method proposed in this paper offers significant improvements compared to existing methods in user-generated content modeling. Second, the competitiveness evaluation model is able to accurately quantify the competitive relationship between products and thus provide insights with managerial value. Finally, the method not only strengthens the traditional competitor identification means but also helps companies maintain their leading edge in the competitive market environment by providing accurate competitive analysis.
First, this study proposes a competitor identification framework based on multidimensional UGC to help companies identify explicit and potential competitors by analyzing user behaviors and perspectives in user-generated content. Second, this paper combines user perspectives and user behavior data for the first time to construct a multidimensional competitive landscape analysis model. Unlike traditional methods, this paper not only reveals explicit competitors but also identifies potential competitive threats through in-depth modeling of user behavior networks. Finally, the study also develops a set of product competitiveness assessment indicators based on multidimensional data to help companies quantify their market competitiveness, providing a more accurate and comprehensive tool for competitor identification and market strategy development.
