PREP 2002 - Nottingham UK
The popular postgraduate-research student-oriented conference in the PREP series took place at Nottingham 17-19 April 2002. PREP 2002 covered Photonics,Electronics, Communications and Software. It had the advantage that free places had been allocated to full time research students from UK Universities who had a paper or poster accepted for the conference. At the same time other research students, including those from outside the United Kingdom, had been encouraged to attend.
IEEE had provided travel support for four students from Eastern Europe and the IEEE was also involved in the selection of the Poster Prize winner. The IEEE's UK section had a membership stand at the exhibition which was associated with the conference. The conference provided, as did the previous meetings in the series, an excellent opportunity for research students to present their work in a less-demanding environment than a large international conference. It also enabled research students to interact with students from outside the UK who represented many other universities, and to compare their experiences.
