New appointment to the Editorial Advisory Board
We are most pleased to announce the – appointment of Monika Broeker to the Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) of this journal. In accepting our invitation she will bring to the EAB her wide-ranging interests in cybernetics and systems and particularly, in management. Monika has already been the Joint Guest Editor for two special double issues of Kybernetes (Vol. 34, Nos. 3/4, 2005 and Vol. 36, Nos. 9/10, 2007), which have been so very well-received by our readership.
With a Master of Science degree in Communication from the University of Arts in Berlin as well as a certification as a systemic consultant, coach and therapist, Monika works as author, Editor, leadership and management development consultant, coach and systemic therapist in California, USA and globally.She was trained in Brief Therapy at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto by Paul Watzlawick, Richard Fisch and others as well as in Solution Focused Brief Therapy at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by Steve de Shazer, Insoo Kim Berg, Yvonne Dolan and others.Together, with Hevinz von Foerster she has authored and published a book the “Teil der Welt” Carl Auer Systeme Verlag, Germany, which soon will be published in the USA as well. It is the most extensive autobiography of Heinz von Foerster. Monika has also guest-edited two special volumes of Kybernetes on Heinz von Foerster (with Alex Riegler) and two special volumes of Kybernetes on Gregory Bateson (with Georg Ivanovas). She is now working on two special volumes of Kybernetes (with Patricio Garcia). Monika is also the Co-editor of a book on innovative approaches in Leadership (with PA Consulting Group). In addition, she has been the Editor of the business journal Learning Organization and author and Editor of numerous articles on systemic thinking and practice.In the areas of facilitation, coaching, team building,conflict resolution, agreement building, systems theory and practice and innovation and creativity, she has already displayed her expertise. This also evident in the design and implementation of large-scale change management/business transformation programs as well as organization design and effectiveness and operational excellence programs. She works with companies in the design, media and entertainment industries as well as in the areas of research and development and product development. In working with creative and innovative leaders she has exhibited particular skills.In addition to her solid consulting background, lastly with PA Consulting Group an international management consultancy, Monika held internal senior organization and personnel development and communications manager positions at BMW-Design works/USA(Munich, Germany and Los Angeles, California), Hewlett Packard (Palo Alto, CA),VERITAS Software (Mountain View, CA), Electronic Arts and other companies.Monika has received an O-Visa for the USA for extraordinary abilities and accomplishments in the field of systemic and cybernetic management. Her participation in the fields of cybernetics and systems has been marked by her attendance at many important international conferences and congresses where she has made presentation. She also contributes to these endeavours as a member of the Systemic Society Berlin, Germany and the American Society for Cybernetics.

Further, appointments to the EAB of Kybernetes will be announced in coming issues. The changes will further strengthen the EAB in the progressive expansion of our interests in our chosen multi-disciplinary fields.
