IDPS 2009 Workshops

Provide attendees with an opportunity to explore special topics. The goal of the workshops is to present work that is more preliminary and cutting-edge or that has more practical: content than the more mature research presented in the main symposium.

HCI International 2009, jointly with the affiliated conferences, which are held under one management and one registration. Invite you to San Diego California, USA, to participate and contribute to the international forum for the dissemination and exchange of up-to-date scientific information on theoretical, generic and applied areas of HCI through the following modes of communication: plenary/keynote presentation(s), parallel sessions, poster sessions, tutorials and exhibition. The conference will start with three days of tutorials Parallel sessions, poster sessions arid the exhibition will be held during the last three days of the conference. The conference focuses on the following major thematic areas:

• ergonomics and health aspects of work with computers;

• human interface and the management of information;

• human-computer interaction;

• engineering psychology and cognitive ergonomics;

• universal access in human-computer interaction;

• virtual and mixed reality;

• internationalization, design and global development;

• online communities and social computing;

• augmented cognition;

• digital human modeling; and

• human centered design.

Proposals for participation

All submitted abstracts will be peer-reviewed by three independent referees from the International Program Boards.

Calls for papers was made in October 2008

The HCI International 2009 Conference Proceedings, comprising the papers to be presented at the conference, will be published by Springer in a multi-volume set in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science and Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence series.

• Cluster/grid/cloud computing: from parallel to globally distributed systems.

• Programming models, languages, and compilers: from high-level abstractions to efficient code.

• Resource management and scheduling: from local to global environments.

• Algorithms and applications: from emerging to future.

• Wireless/sensor networks and pervasive computing: from fixed location to everywhere.

• Performance evaluation and simulation: from simple to complex systems.

• Information retrieval and knowledge discovery: from bits to impact.

• Peer-to-peer and service-oriented architectures: from virtual to adaptive.

• Data center and, data management: from efficiency to green computing.

Workshops with more narrowly focused scope will be field on 22 September. Workshop proposals were submitted to the Workshops Co-Chairs, Leonard Barolli (barrolli@fit.ac.jp)and Wu-chun Feng (feng@cs.vtedu).

Proceedings of the conference and workshops will be published by the IEEE Computer Society in CD format only and will be available at the conference.
