The Library Association's Members'Day will be held on 22 October 1998 in the Brunei Gallery at the University of London. Under the banner of "Only connect", the day will offer a choice of workshops on the following:
associateship and mentoring;
knowledge management;
negotiating for success;
equal opportunities; and
writing a successful CV.
There will also be a chance to look at a series of new training programmes being produced for information workers by BBC Education, in collaboration with the Library Association. The Library Association's Vision 98 conference, promised in the last column, has been confirmed for 5-6 November 1998, and will be held in Buxton. The theme will be "Time to make a difference". The Grasmere conference for 1998,organised by the NATFHE Library section, but not limited to NATFHE members, will take place this year on 6-9 November, and will address the topic "Who owns learning?" The Online Information 98 conference will be held on 8-10 December 1998 at Olympia, in London. In addition to addressing the key themes of managing intranets, virtual communities,knowledge management, and electronic publishing, there will be satellite events tackling special issues. On Monday 7 December an executive business briefing on knowledge management will address, among other things, the question of "New skills for the knowledge age". On Friday 11 December there will be a half-day morning session on "the information professional in the Internet age", which will outline survival strategies and non-typical careers.
