This study aims to discuss the activities of preserving ancient manuscripts while introducing the literacy tradition of the Sasak tribe to the younger generation. The West Nusa Tenggara State Museum has the responsibility to preserve the manuscripts that underlie the traditions and culture of the Sasak Tribe, an indigenous tribe of Lombok Island in Indonesia. The manuscripts contain knowledge, teachings and noble values that can inspire society, especially the younger Sasak generation.
Data collection was conducted through interviews and analyzed using content analysis.
There are four activities that aim to preserve manuscripts, as well as introduce and increase insight into Sasak customs and culture to young generation. These activities are the pepaosan festival, museum enters school program, philologika school program and virtual tour program.
Development of activities with two objectives at once, namely the preservation of ancient manuscripts and increasing insight into customs and culture for the young generation of Sasak tribe.
