Editorial
This issue of LHTN should arrive coinciding with most of the world's commencement of a new academic year. It also contains many interesting and informative conference reports from earlier in the summer in North America and in early winter from the Asia Pacific region. In this issue we have a medley of reports from many contributors who attended:
The Medical Library Association meeting in Orlando, Florida in late May.
The Special Library Association conference that convened in San Antonio,Texas in early June.
The American Library Association annual meeting in mid-June in San Francisco, California.
The 30th Annual Conference of the International Association of School Librarianship was held in conjunction with the 5th International Forum on Research in School Librarianship in Auckland, New Zealand in July.
We hope that you concur that having more voices and opinions enriches our viewpoints and this smorgasboard approach to conference coverage has many advantages. We continue to seek reporters from Europe to cover the relevant meetings that take place throughout the year on that continent.
Tom Wilson shares some reflections on e-content and Howard Falk offers more new insights in his e-currents column and Gerry McKiernan provides an "eclectic"e-profile on the Internet Journal of Chemistry. Due to having had a longer issue than usual in Vol. 18 No. 7, we have some articles and content that carried over into this issue, including Stuart Hannabus' piece on international copyright concerns, and the common ingredients of every issue, the "New &Noteworthy" column and the "Diary" are now extended to include two issues of relevant copy. The "New Books & Publications" column has been split. This issue includes citations to recent journal articles and information sources and the list of new books will be included in the November issue.
We hope that you will volunteer to submit pieces for our "Around the World"column - we seek a library technology update on a certain library. We look forward to hearing from our readers.
