This article surveys co‐operative initiatives in the conservation of library materials and disaster control planning in Wales. It traces the roles of the National Library of Wales and LISC (Wales) in promoting the subject and describes the conferences and open days held to educate and encourage the Welsh library community. Conservation projects that have received grants from the Wolfson Foundation and the Mellon Foundation are examined as is the current status of the Newsplan project in Wales.
