The last three years have brought major changes to New Zealand’s tertiary education libraries. Case studies of four examples of New Zealand collaboration demonstrate this. At the time of writing, these consortia have arrived at another crossroads with the announcement of competitive government funding, the first time ever that New Zealand libraries have had an opportunity to bid in this way. Issues facing the consortia include the sometimes overlooked leadership and group dynamics as well as the formalities of governance, funding and project management.
