Built to succeed: sustainable learning environment at UC Merced Library

Haipeng Li is a University Librarian at the University of California, Merced (UCM). Before coming to UC Merced, he was a University Librarian at the Hong Kong Baptist University. He also held positions at other academic libraries including the John Cotton Dana Library at the Rutgers University, Newark, New Jersey, at the Oberlin College in Ohio, the University of Arizona and the Arizona State University. Li is active in professional services. He has served on the Council of ALA, Executive Committee of the IRRT; he also served as the President of the Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA) 2006-2007 and the Executive Director of CALA 2008-2013. He has been promoting collaboration and exchange between libraries in China and the USA. He served as the Chair of the Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC) in Hong Kong in 2012 and the President of the Hong Kong Library Association (HKLA) 2012-2013. His research areas include information literacy, library management and diversity, leadership development, international librarianship, global collaboration and digital initiatives in libraries. He is frequently invited to speak at library events and serves as a consultant for several academic libraries in China and the USA.
