Marlin Lighting is a medium‐sized company manufacturing commercial lighting products. Originally it was a private family company. A decision was made to sell the company, and a team of senior executives was recruited to oversee the transition into public ownership. A logistics programme was instigated to establish competitive advantage and improve company performance. G. J. Hargreaves describes the actions taken and the strategy on which they were based.
