Globalization, Environmental Ethics and Environmental Justice
International Conference, organized by Lyman Briggs School, Michigan State University, USA, 24-28 August 2006
Papers are invited for this Interdisciplinary Conference, to be held at Michigan State University, East Lansing and focused on unfolding environmental developments. As globalization advances and the global character of many environmental problems become more manifest, wider perspectives are stimulated in local environmental traditions. The conference is organized by the Lyman Briggs School of Science, which has long pioneered research co-operation right across the disciplines between arts and sciences at Michigan State University, the USA's first land-grant university. Workshop topics will include: environmental justice (EJ); literature and ecology; environmental movements; ecological restoration, and nature, culture and artefact. 6th Australasian Conference of Sustainable Tertiary Education
20-22 September 2006, Ballarat University, Ballarat; Victoria, Australia
In the past 6 years the growth of sustainability initiatives in the Australasian tertiary sector has been phenomenal, during this conference we encourage participants to stop and reflect on the sectors' successes and failures in regards to sustainability and to focus in particular on the roles of theory, practice and learning. Papers and workshops that focus on operationalising theory, learning from past mistakes, implementing best practice initiatives, or developing new theoretical perspectives will be most welcome.
In order to meet the needs of all delegates, the conference presentations will be divided into two streams: campus sustainability and education for sustainability (EfS). The presentations submitted for consideration in the education for sustainability stream will be peer reviewed by a recognised panel of experts in the EfS field – we strongly encourage academics to submit papers for consideration. Presentations submitted for consideration in the campus sustainability stream will not be peer reviewed but will be assessed by a panel of environmental managers from Australian and New Zealand Universities.
