UN marks milestone for Kyoto CDM

The Kyoto protocol’s clean development mechanism (CDM) recently registered its 500th project, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change has announced. The registered projects are due to deliver credits for 740 m tonnes of carbon by 2012. Another 1.1 bn credits are expected from 950 projects still undergoing registration. This brings the total expected emission cuts to nearly twice that in June 2006.
