Europe adopts new energy management standard
Article Type: News From: Management of Environmental Quality: An International Journal, Volume 21, Issue 1
A new European standard for energy management systems was launched by the European standardisation body (CEN). It provides a framework for companies and other organisations to improve their energy efficiency and cut costs. To be awarded the standard, organisations must develop an energy policy, identifying targets for energy efficiency improvements and allocating resources and responsibilities for its implementation. The European Commission is due to publish recommendations for a separate European standard on energy audits by the end of the year.
