Article Type: News From: Management of Environmental Quality: An International Journal, Volume 23, Issue 3.
Poland's state-owned energy company PGE has said that it is pulling out of a joint Baltic project to build a new nuclear power plant in Visaginas, Lithuania. The aim is to replace the Soviet-era Ignalina plant, which closed down after the country joined the EU. In a statement, PGE said the current conditions were“unacceptable” and its decision reflected the company's involvement in other key projects. PGE is planning to build new controversial power plants in Poland.
