Germany has introduced extra one-off solar photovoltaic subsidy cuts of up to 26 per cent. The one-off cuts range from 20.2 to 26.4 per cent depending on the size of installations. Solar parks on open spaces with a capacity of more than ten megawatts will no longer receive subsidies. In addition, solar subsidies will only cover 85 per cent of the electricity produced for small rooftop and 90 per cent for larger installations from 2013. This is to encourage households to use the electricity they produce rather than selling it straightaway.
