FISH AT TORRY

Torry Research Station, a branch of the Department of Trade and Industry, takes its name from the district of Aberdeen in which it is situated. It is concerned with all aspects of handling, processing and preservation of fish, from the time of catching until final distribution to the consumer. The prime aim at Torry is to assist the industry to supply fish and fish products of the highest quality, which will compete successfully with other foods. An outstation, the Humber Laboratory at Hull, provides close contacts with the industry in England. Activities in Torry range from basic and academic studies to the design and application of new processing equipment and techniques. The staff include bacteriologists, chemists, biochemists, physicists and engineers.
