New products in 1985 Consumer concern about dietary intake of salt, sugar, fat and additives was reflected in the new food products launched in 1985. In most food sectors there were new products introduced which had a reduced fat, salt, sugar or additive content or were high in fibre. Out of the 1,860 new launches reported, there were twenty reduced‐salt products and eleven with a reduced sugar content.
