School milk

Schools are being urged to take advantage of the EC School Milk Scheme. The fully funded scheme on school milk requires member states to make available subsidies for whole and semi-skimmed, plain and flavoured drinking milk and unsweetened unflavoured whole milk yogurt. The scheme is open to all children attending primary and nursery schools. Although the provision of the scheme by member states is mandatory, participation by schools or Local Education Authorities is on a voluntary basis. This initiative demonstrates how parents, teachers and farmers can work together for the benefit of children too many of whom go to school without breakfast.
