Breast screening programme

At the end of March 1998, 66.4 per cent of women aged 50 to 64 resident in England had been screened at least once in the previous three years. For women aged 55 to 64 coverage improved to 73.1 per cent. 1.2 million women of all ages were screened within the programme and 6,914 cases of cancer were detected in women screened.
