Breastfeeding counsellors. The breastfeeding promotion group of the National Childbirth Trust was formed in 1967 by a group of experienced nursing mothers, to give other breastfeeding mothers practical help and moral support on a mother‐to‐mother basis. They now have a rapidly growing network of ‘breast feeding counsellors’ and trainee counsellors all over the country, who are available on the telephone, or by letter, at any time, to give practical advice, moral support, encouragement and practical help to nursing mothers who have doubts or problems with breastfeeding. They will also visit, if requested.
