New Recommendations on Nutrition Labelling The Food Standards Committee's Second Report on Claims and Misleading Descriptions was published in March this year. The Report is the second and final part of the Committee's comprehensive review of food labelling which was initiated in 1975. The Report examines the controls on claims in existing United Kingdom food labelling law and in general recommends that they be made more stringent. It also recommends that nutritional labelling, that is to say, the provision on food labels of detailed nutritional information, should be required when certain claims are made.
