The Annual Report of the National Food Survey Committee, published recently, gives detailed analyses of household food consumption, expenditure and nutritional levels in Great Britain in 1987, based on detailed records kept by over 7000 households throughout the UK. The average amount of money spent on food consumed at home (excluding alcohol, confectionery and pet food) was £10.44 per person per week.
