Health conscious consumers

Speciality food companies are hoping to increase their sales with providing natural and health-oriented products. Food from Britian estimate that this sector of the food market is valued at £3 billion. Many of the companies are small ones and the size of their company often is best suited to meet the requirements of the discerning consumer by offering greater control of the quality of the product. One company is launching a range of organic preserves and chutneys, another a new organic range of apple and pear juice. At the International Food Exhibition held recently in London 80 companies specialising in these natural foods exhibited. Exhibitors showed best quality meats including marmalade-baked ham, bacon from free range Tamworth pigs, Gressingham ducklings, speciality sausages and prime fallow venison. A wide selection of bakery products and a range of high quality cheeses available from across the country were also on show.
