Transformations in the built form as a reflection of social change, the case of apartment buildings in Amman Available to Purchase

Yamen N. Al-Betawi is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture Faculty of Engineering at The Hashemite University (Jordan). He holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning (2013) from Cardiff University, UK, a master’s degree in Urban Design (2004) and bachelor degree in Architecture (2001) from Jordan University of Science and Technology. His research interests revolves around issues related to both the architectural and urban scale amongst which are place making, place identity, design of good cities, urban morphology, housing quality and residential satisfaction, property development, planning and design processes, sustainable development and quality of life.

Fadia H. Al Nassar is a Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering and Technology at The University of Jordan (Jordan). She holds a Master’s degree in Theories and Practice of Sustainable Design (2013) from Cardiff University, UK and a Bachelor degree in Architecture (2007) from The University of Jordan. Her research interests cover issues related to architectural design, sustainable design and development, housing, green architecture and environmental design, as well as building construction.

Ahmad A. Al Husban is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering at the Hashemite University (Jordan). He holds a PhD in Architecture Design (2012) from Washington State University, USA, a Master’s degree in Architecture Design (2007) and a Bachelor degree in Architecture (1994) from Jordan University of Science and Technology. His research interests cover issues related to architecture, urban design, design thinking, theories and criticism, design processes, building construction and practice and architectural education. Additionally, Ahmad has a thorough experience in architecture practice including design, construction and supervision, both on the local and regional scales.

Safa Al Husban is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering at Al AlBayt University (Jordan). She holds a PhD (Doctor of Architectural Design) in Architecture Design (2012) from Washington State University, USA, a Master’s degree in Architecture Studies (2007) and a Bachelor degree in Architecture (1994) from Jordan University of Science and Technology (Jordan). Her research interests revolve around issues related to architecture and urban design, architecture and urban design theory, sustainable design and development, neigbourhood design, social capital and connectivity, housing development, residential satisfaction and public health.
