Videotex versus online bibliographic databases: a Canadian prospective

The rapid development of online bibliographic information retrieval systems is compared with that of videotex, still in its experimental stages. The different styles of presentation and access methods suit them for different kinds of information. Little is known of the information needs to be met by videotex, how users react to it, and what information is best suited to videotex. The strength of online will assist the development of videotex as a distinct medium for information, although business will initially be the main market.
