SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information) — a need for special facilities in commercial systems

A number of commercial online search services are now offering sdi to their customers on an increasing proportion of their databases. The present software in these systems, however, is geared more to bibliographic searches. As there is a fundamental difference between the bibliographic and sdi types of searches, a more sympathetic software, based on the experience of a smaller operating system, to construct and amend an sdi profile is suggested.
