In the Spring of 1981, Chemical Abstracts joined the growing number of commercial vendors who offer document delivery services. Chemical Abstracts is a welcome entry into this market place by providing many soviet publications, various patents from a variety of countries, and most materials cited by CA in their indexes within the last ten years. While their rates are not inexpensive, Chemical Abstracts' Document Delivery Service is a valuable resource for materials which are not readily available from other sources. The purpose of this article is to describe Chemical Abstracts' Document Delivery Service in terms of DIALORDER, the mail, and OCLC. Included in this article are transmission costs, success rates, delivery times, and other considerations involved in utilizing CA's Document Delivery Service.
