Artificial intelligence is almost here

Trends in computer science show that various aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) are emerging, and other trends show that these advances are being applied to create intelligent information systems. Although the field of AI has not been very successful in the past, these trends suggest that it may finally arrive in the next few years.
