Article Type: Editorial From: Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, Volume 32, Issue 4
We are pleased to present you with Volume 32 Number 4 of the journal. In this issue we present 11 papers exploring a range of topics related to policing. Four of our authors examine citizen perceptions of and satisfaction with the police. The remaining papers investigate a variety of issues ranging from correlates of police strength through police cadet attitudes. The topics include use of force, law enforcement accreditation, victim services, community policing, and the role of women Special Agents. As usual, the papers come from around the world and represent a range of national and cultural settings for policing. We are always pleased when we can include papers exploring policing topics and issues in different countries. We are proud of this issue and grateful for the contributions of our authors. We encourage our readers to submit articles for consideration.
In addition to these papers, this issue contains our feature sections of“Policing on the web”, “Perspectives on policing”, and a book review. The “Perspectives” section in this issue was prepared by Megan Paxton, and J.W. Carter has again prepared a “Policing on the web”review.
This is the first issue compiled by P. Colin Bolger, the new Assistant Editor. Colin is a student in the doctoral program in criminal justice here at the University of Cincinnati. Angela Reitler, the previous Assistant Editor, has moved on to other duties here at the University. We will miss Angela’s professionalism and dedication, but Colin is more than up to the challenge.
As always, we continue to strive to present the most recent thinking and research on policing topics, and to reflect the global perspective that has characterised the journal for so many years. We want to encourage our readers to participate in the journal through the submission of articles and book reviews and through service as manuscript reviewers. We ask anyone with comments or suggestions to feel free to contact us, and we look forward to hearing from you all.
