Reports on a study undertaken to explore how large organizations are restructuring their approach to portfolio management. Identifies developer perspective, company‐wide computer‐aided support systems and a unified property service structure as ways of increasing operational effectiveness and efficiency. Concludes that while systematic analytical procedures were rarely used, there is now a willingness to challenge conventional practices.
