The construction of the M25 will bring about a considerable improvement to the highways network in the south east of England. The pressure for new development which stems naturally from better communications is, however, being resisted by all levels of government. From Whitehall to local parish, planning policies intend to resist wholesale new development within the M25 corridor, particularly in the western sector.
