Poor colour acceptance is often a problem for paint manufacturers who try and utilise many of the new resins coming onto the market. The high strength pigments tend to give the most problems. The colour develops unevenly during application, particularly where the applied sheer is uneven e.g., brushing. Two of the worst colours are blue and violet and up until now paint manufacturers have either had to use uneconomic weak dispersions or add additional wetting agent, thus reducing wash fastness of the final paint.
