What a splendid industry we are part of. Mature yet blossoming, less fragmented than we should be yet still somehow healthily perpetuating, both global and parochial, dynamically competitive yet bathed in a special prudence, possessing a palpable vulnerability to alien products yet continuing to build profitable volume by innovating on the oldest of backbones and, not least, being blessed with a trade press the envy of many other industries.
