An interesting paint development is the joint venture company known as IDAC formed less than 12 months ago by ICI and Dupont to supply OEM automotive coatings in Europe. IDAC has strengthened its current investment programme in its German facilities and also its position in the European automotive industry overall, where the number of locally based Japanese manufacturers is increasing, and new demand for cars in Eastern Europe is expected to be 7.5 million annually.
