Chemoxy International continues to expand its Safer Solvents portfolio of low toxicity, low VOC solvents with the introduction of butyl propionate.

A high-purity, water white liquid which is biodegradable, butyl propionate is believed to be ideal for formulating with other solvents to help improve the flash point,biodegradability and solvency characteristics of solvent combinations.

It claims excellent solvency properties for nitro-cellulose, natural and synthetic resins for paint and lacquer manufacture. With a flash point of 37°C, butyl propionate is an ideal replacement for methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), methyl iso-botyl ketone (MIBK),and butyl acetate.

Butyl propionate is reported to share excellent handling properties with other low odour, low evaporation products in Chemoxy's Safer Solvents range. These high performance products include Coasol, a non-VOC, low odour, environmentally friendly replacement for traditional coalescing solvents such as glycol ethers,hydrocarbon solvents and acetates in paints and coatings.

Also in the extensive Safer Solvents range is Estasol, a versatile product for industrial and general cleaning operations replacing isophorone, glycol ethers, glycol ether acetates,cyclohexanone and many other solvents.
