Kynar ® 500 HTG: customised flexibility
For applications requiring sharp bends and folds in the metal substrate, Elf Atochem recently launched a Kynar ® 500-based paint additive which provides the coating with additional flexibility. The new additive, Kynar ® 500 HTG itself a fluorinated copolymer, is therefore compatible with Kynar ® 500 and offers the same degree of durability and resistance to weathering.
The added flexibility imparted by Kynar ® 500 HTG to the final coating is said to facilitate the folding of panels and profiles, and reduces the formation of micro-cracks along folds and corners as the component ages.
Kynar ® 500 HTG is available as a very fine powder (particle size under 10 microns), and should be applied as such in dispersion in paints with a Kynar base, in proportions governed by the viscosity obtained and the flexibility required.
